Altys Group announced the launch of the ForaCare Suisse AG FORA Diamond MINI blood glucose monitor in South Africa. An exclusive distributor of ForaCare since 2013, Altys Group has partnered with Discovery Health, which manages South Africa's largest open medical scheme and 13 closed schemes, to offer the Diamond MINI to all Discovery Health Medical Scheme members excluding members of Keycare plans. Eligible members can receive a free Diamond MINI from MedXpress and Dis-Chem stores as part of a diabetes care program.

The FORA Diamond MINI blood glucose monitor is a leading edge daily health management solution for patients with diabetes-related illnesses and has the distinction of being the world's first glucose monitor with dual mobile platform connectivity across iOS and Android devices. Bluetooth and USB capabilities keep patients confidently connected, and true to its name, the Diamond MINI is small enough for patients to carry with them and use discreetly as needed. Patients pair the Diamond MINI with the iFORA app to track their daily, weekly and monthly glucose trends in order to identify and modify the lifestyle choices that affect their glucose levels.

Discovery Health estimates that up to 60% of diabetes care costs are related to complications and, therefore, expects that the use of the Diamond MINI with the iFORA app and telehealth option will enhance cost effectiveness and efficiency of self-care and improve doctor-patient communication. The telehealth option in the iFORA app allows patients to upload daily glucose levels to Discovery HealthID for access and variation assessment by their doctors, who can then modify treatment based on real-time information. Altys and Discovery have agreed to add the test strips for the Diamond MINI to the chronic disease formulary list, so that it is available to diabetic members on all plans.

"Altys Group is proud to offer the FORA Diamond MINI in our market, in conjunction with Discovery Health, to help patients stay on top of their glucose monitoring needs when on the go," stated Alain MICHEL, Managing Director of Altys Group. "Everyone deserves to have peace of mind in the management of their health without compromising the activities that enhance their life."

"We could not be more pleased to have Altys Group as an exclusive distributor and partner in our mission to improve the lives of people affected by diabetes," said Ty-Minh Tan, CEO of ForaCare Suisse AG. "Patients and healthcare providers alike can be confident that the FORA Diamond MINI meets the highest ISO measurement standards and offers Advanced Superior Sip In (ASSI) test strip technology for the highest test precision."

To increase awareness of the new product and build an online community for people affected by diabetes-related health concerns, Altys Group has created a Facebook page where visitors can learn more and share their personal experiences: http://www.facebook.com/foraafrica.
